I have a old acer notebook that i use as a spare and for browsing, it currently has 768mb ram on windows xp 32 with 1.8 ghz processor.

The cost of ddr ram is not that cheap compared to the latest versions, so i can probably get 2x1gb sticks for £40.Im just wondering if its going to make any difference? at the moment it seems a bit slow when i open up around five different web pages but im just assuming thats because its an old system.

Is it worth getting the extra ram? the max it can gold is 2gb anyway.

In such cases always refer to the exact model number as only this way (well, unless you use an online scanner or similar) can we determine its chipset thus memory controller.

Some DDR laptops officially supported 1GB while worked well with 2GB. Yours might be one of them.

DDR will be expensive these days since it's hardly produced anymore, while demand is relatively stronger by folks who still wish to upgrade their older laptops.
