Upgrading system

Hi all I have found these forums very good for getting information and have decided it is time to upgrade my current system of:

core 2 Quad Q8300 2.5GHz
4GB DDR 2 PC26400 400MHz
motherboard P35/G33
western digital 320 GB
PowerColor HD 5770 1GB GDDR5
Corsair HX 450w PSU

I also run it off a 32 inch 1080p tv/monitor, the system is an Advent model. I am looking to upgrade mainly for using the Adobe products like photoshop, flash and some 3D work probably but also some gaming.
I was originally looking to buy a pre built system
AMD X6 1075T AM3 6 Core PC, 4GB DDR3, 1TB, 60GB SSD

but can build one I am really looking to see what would be an upgrade and increase in speed.

Think you should keep your setup, add a aftermarket heatsink and overclock the CPU.

Add a SSD.

Fast replies :)
I was going to keep this system maybe minus the card and get what I thought would be a better system. So you think there is no point upgrading I am not the brightest when it comes to upgrades, the system just seems a bit sluggish when I have photoshop and illustrator going at the same time.

The SSD will make it more "snappy" to use.

If you want to play newer games on higher settings/resolution, then a GPU such as a GTX560ti or 6950 1GB will give a huge boost.

But do these first, overclock the CPU and see how it "feels" then.

Can always do the CPU/RAM and motherboard later.

thanks I am not the best gamer but want it the best I can, the £500 is a gift for comp improvements i was looking at this on the site

"Titan Krypt" AMD Phenom II X4 840 "95W Edition" 3.20GHz Quad Core DDR3 System

and I had also seen

AMD X6 Phenom 6 Core Gaming PC 4GB, 1TB, 1GB HD 5770

it would be a swap as the little lad needs a comp as well but I will give the overclock a try see how it runs I should never have bought a pc from PC world in the first place.

That is a good comparison chart thanks, what about these 2

Quiet H67 SKT 1155 PC Computer Core i7 2600 4GB 500GB '' or

Intel i5 2500K Quad core + 8GB + HD3000 GFX, 500GB HD

I want to make sure the system I pick up is some what future proof for at least a few years usage and the little lad will get an overclocked Q8300 :)

A few facts about the new sandybridge.

The CPUS have a inbuilt GPU, the "K" cpus have a faster inbuilt GPU called the HD300
The non "K" CPU's inbuilt GPU is called HD2000.

To allow overclocking of these, you need a "K" CPU and either a P67 or z68 chipset motherboard.

A H67 motherboard doesnt allow any overclocking.
Only a H67 and Z68 motherboard have outputs on the back to connect monitors to use the onboard GPU of these CPUS.

So if you want K CPU with a H67 chipset motherboard, your kind of wasting money because you cant overclock it, but you are getting the better HD3000 GPU, so slightly catch22.

But your existing 5770 card is a much faster solution than these onboard solutions anyway.

Because you can save a bundle of dosh by sticking it together yourself.

This is the motherboard - http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/P8H61M/ - still has the outputs.

And the PSU and case are a "known" quality, that system above more than likely has a cheap PSU which isnt good.

You can have a 2600K and 8GB of RAM too.

2500K vs 2600K - http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/288?vs=287 - to most people the 2500K is enough.

The 2500 with a saving of over £100 looks ideal , I think if I take my time I can build it.
Will the psu take my 5770 okay

and thanks for all the help especially the link info
