The wife has kindly given me her old laptop. It is a HP Pavilion DV6 6052EA. The spec is not too bad to be honest with an i7 2630QM, 4GB Ram and an AMD 6490M 1GB.
It needs a new battery which is my first question; where is the best place to buy laptop batteries from? It seems there are a lot of websites out there but they all look very Web 1.0 and not too trustworthy. I would be after the standard like for like replacement. I know I can get larger ones but I do not think it will be worth it.
Also, I would like to know if this laptop will handle an SSD without issue? I am sure it will but I don't really want to buy one and then not be able to use it. I would be looking at 250gb or there about. Would be great speed boost for the use it will be getting. The laptop will not be used for gaming, but more office work, internet and some light front end web development. Annoyingly Windows 10 fails on this laptop completely (when last checked) so it will be running Win7.
I will also be upgrading to 8gb RAM at some point, but that does not need to be done straight away.
So any ideas?
