Upgrading Thermal Pads

Hi folks,

I'm planning/amassing kit to build a watercooled system with a 3090FE, I've been in touch with Alphacool, they use a mix of 1, 2 and 3mm thermal pads with a 3.5w/mk rating and I've been given anecdotal temperature performance figures. I'd like to upgrade to something in the 12w/mk range but my question is after spending the additional on 'better' pads and the effort cutting etc. would there actually be a measurable difference in temperature?

To keep the rear VRAM temps down I plan on using an MP5works BPC.

Many Thanks!!

Done before with EK block (RTX 2080) and the difference was noticeable.
Done the motherboard, again, clear gain.
Both times used Gelid GP Extreme.

Replacing original pads between backplate and the actual chips will definitely help. That's where the heat is much more concentrated and any improvements will show.
I wouldn't spend extra money on upgrading the pad we supply though. At 6W/mK over such a large area they are plenty enough :)

I hope that helps.
