After a couple of years with this monitor I´m thinking about upgrading to a 24" monitor. Having a look around a good option appears to be a Dell 2408WFP, any other candidates worth of mention?

The nec but its now eol.

The HP 2575W should be looked at as its an ips screen like your old one.

You are upgrading from one of the best, if not the best, tft screen ever made so anything else is going to be a disappointment.

Sorry to refloat the thread but I am now really looking for a new 24" monitor. The main use is gaming so I don't need a professional and very expensive monitor. I know the NEC is a superb monitor but if a TN monitor does well I don't mind the change. Now with the coming of LED monitors is there any suggestions for a good monitor mainly for FPS gaming? Cheers

I personally would not get a TN, they make my head hurt just looking at them for an hour and that's only because I'm so used the the neutral and uniform display of an IPS. A VA based panel will be a more striking option.

My friend had the NEC 20WGX I shall point him to this thread and see if he can advise on you a suitable 24" as he upgraded to a 24" I believe it was an Iiyama but I cannot remember.

I myself have had the Dell 2007WFP, the competing, non glossy sister to the NEC 20GWX2 and when I went 24" I had many, many 24" screens inc the 2408WFP before sticking with the Hazro.

Like you I game too but also do professional work so colour and quality was just as important as gaming performance.

Cheers mrk, I don't need any professional specs and that's why I would like to stay away from the very good quality but also very expensive monitor/panels, although I agree that probably changing to a TN might be a too much. Let's wait what your friend has done

Eulogy is his username, I have sent him a message but will remind tonight :)

I've recently upgraded to the LG Flatron W2442PA from the 20wgx2 and it's great for gaming.

The input lag is practically 0 and on average it's 20ms faster than the 20wgx2.

I bought it for £183 from the biggest online retailer which is an absolute bargain, although they are out of stock and i'm not sure if they will get more in.

Pcpro recommended it over the Dell S2409W.

I had the same screen as you OP, the 20GWX2. The USB ports on mine died so I contacted NEC and they replaced mine for free with a 24WMGX3 - both this screen and the one I had before are EOL so I can't recommend buying my new one so much as I doubt you can find it anymore, sorry!

Thank's Eulogy. I already looked at your post and found that NEC exchange your monitor for a better one, but even now the substitute won't be as good as yours (at least looking at tftcentral review for the 2490WUXi). Anyway, maybe I have a look at the LG W2486L, as I said I'm not at all after excell quality since I'll use the monitor mainly for gaming, I'm the only one in front of it, so angles doesn't bother me, and as for colors technology for TN monitors have improved a lot.
