Hi...

At present if have 2GB (2x1GB) of GeIL PC3200 Value Dual Channel ram and was considering grabbing another 2GB.

This has probably been asked so many times, but would it be worth it? I know there's the old sdaying of "you can never have too much ram." But would it make a great difference.

The main reason I want more is to help out with my 3D work (3D Studio Max and ZBrush 2) and some gaming.

My current config is as follows:

- AMD Athlon dual core 3800+
- 2GB of Geil PC3200 Value ram
- GeForce 7800 GT (256mb)
- ABit AN8 Ultra
- etc....

Thanks in advance :)

yeah... for games I guess it is enough. But for 3D applications pushing around a million plus polygon model it could be an advantage....

When using a 3D application, do you notice it paging to disc quite a bit? (A bit of Hard drive activity when you aren't loading or saving something). Also when running the application and have loaded a large model, have a look at Task Manager and see how much memory it's using. Will give you an idea if your current 2GB setup is being used to it's fullest.

I guess you use Windows XP? Not 64?

Then about 400mb will go from the total as windows 32 bit only supports 4Gb TOTAL system mem, inc gfx and anything else.

Plus it will go to 2T, slowing the system down.

Its really not worth it tho, esp without Windows 64
