Upgrading to 7780ti

The Inno3d card benched at 1423/1855. The Lighting manages a paltry 1280/1627
Yeah, but the Lightning has pritty pritty lights!!!

Is that really all the Lightning can do, though?
I thought you could unlock the voltage with other software and get it up higher than any other 780?
I hear talk of things like 1306mhz core, 1650mhz mem on some of those OC databases...

Doesn't matter, the silicon lottery still applies and if you got a crappy core then you won't be able to take it further.

It's made out of the very best components available (military grade) and in theory is as stable and reliable as possible.
I did chuck 300mV+ at it once to see what it's do on the core but I'm not really experienced enough to get the most out of it...
I've just bought another lightning anyway and 2 of them SLI'd will never need to be overclocked at all to destroy everything @1440p :D

So what did you do with your inno3d?

The 780 wont be that much of a upgrade in all honesty but you're using the nvidia shield then just go for a msi one or something

I went from a 7970 Matrix to a 780 classified and i found it to be a great upgrade. Well worth doing!

The 7970 matrix gets so close to a stock 780 so its more of a side grade as the person below me says. But once another 780 is added and more volts get pushed through the awesome classified card no 7970s will ever catch up

I can feel your pain and regret :(

There was slightly more to it...

I bought the Inno3d 780... Loved it... Watercooled it... Overclocked it... Everything was great :)

Saw the Lightning for sale on the MM with a waterblock... Perfect to SLI... lets go...

I didn't realize the LTG was HUUUUUGE and wouldn't fit in a loop with my Inno3D

Sold the Inno3D on the basis that the LTG is one hell of a card despite not being a huge OCer and I really didn't need SLI 780's @1080p...

Now I have 1440p so I've bought another LTG to match :D

The cores on these cards are good for much more than 1280... I'm sure of it... I did have a play with a voltage mod but I really didn't want to kill anything so I just left it at stock :)

Yeah that's a shame but I hope the lightning can hold 1280mhz in games too.

Yup, completely stable at 1280/1627 :D

Really? I went from 7970 to 780 and it was a sidegrade until I added a second. Both were really good clockers though

I actually had 2 7970 Matrix cards for a while then went to a single then to a single 780.

I had a lot of issues trying to keep the 2 Matrix cards cool due to the 3 slot coolers being so close together and I never could get either of them to clock stably. I had a few driver issues too with artifacting at stock speeds.

My 780 experience was far smoother altogether it just worked and faster to boot!

Nvidia > AMD* :D

Without trying to start a fist fight... I genuinely believe that for the vast majority it is true. Unless you're knowledgeable and willing enough to BIOS tweek, run Beta drivers etc then Nvidia wins.
