i have a antec 900 case from my previous computer, hard drive dvdrw 650w psu and 9800gtx+ (dont laugh i no its old and will be my next upgrade lol) suggestions appreciated.

im open to other suggestion of ram etc and i will be hopefully upgrading the psu next month also. and eventually adding something like a h70 cooler.

on a side note did i see some where about postage discounts for forum members?

Get a cheaper MSI P67 board as you won't see any extra benefit from the GD65, and downgrade to 4GB of RAM.

A new, good brand PSU is also a good idea, as well as a decent graphics card like a 5850, which is ridiculously good value. The Hyper 212 Plus is also a badass cooler for ~£20, and I recommend buying it when you get the board and CPU, because it'll be a pain to fit otherwise.

I'd normally recommend not upgrading piecemeal, but there is virtually zero chance of SB prices going down in the next month.

That RAM can obstruct some bigger heatsinks. If you're only going to be gaming I'd recommend going for the 2x2GB Corsair XMS3, 8GB is unnecessary right now for gaming.

Free postage is for members who have 250 posts and have been a member for 90 days or more.

the main reson for this motherboard was that its a great price if i bought a cheaper model of it by the time i bought a cooler it would be roughly the same any way.

That doesn't make any sense, buying a more expensive motherboard in no way negates the need for a cooler. Buying the cheaper one means you can buy the cooler now instead of waiting and having to tear it all apart to put together again.

A "great price" means nothing. Pay only for the features you're actually going to use.

Yeah I'd say stick with the GD65 as well, as it comes with a hyper 212 its a bargain and it's £15 cheaper than it was anyway! Bought the deal myself yesterday. Yeah you could go cheaper and lose a few features, but what if you end up needing those features in the future?

Also runs graphics cards a x8 x8 in sli/xfire so fairly future proof if you happen to fall in to enough money to grab two 5850's or something, which at c. £100 each, is a bargain!

yea if id had the cash now i would buy 2 of those cards today but im affraid im gona have to do it in stages. plus with this deal if the included cooler works well i probably wont change it for a h70. out of interest any 1 that already has 1 of these boards how easy are they to overclock?

Ah, the board comes with the hyper 212, I missed that. Excellent, snap it up.

You won't need to change up the cooler, and MSI boards are a cinch to overclock. Even if you have no idea how to change the settings in the BIOS, there's a button called OC Genie that you simply press on the motherboard and it'll do all the overclocking for you- albeit it won't give as great results as a manual overclock.
