Currently have a Xonar DG in my system driving:

Creative T20 + Onkyo Sub with bass redirection
UE6000 headphones via Creative T20

Would I notice a significant improvement in games and music or is it simply upgraditis telling me to pull the trigger?

The OEM version is under £50 which looks like good value all in all.

Significant improvement, no, but there may be some improvement. More likely to hear it with the headphones. People's experiences vary, so it's impossible to say whether the gains will be worth it to you.

One advantage to getting a SB Z, is that it has separate speaker and headphone connections. Far better to connect speakers to the sound card, rather than via speakers headphone socket.

I doubt you'd hear much difference with the speakers but you might by plugging the headphones into the dedicated headphone amp socket on the rear of the card.

LMAO - you posted while I was typing :D

I upgraded from DG to zxr 3 days ago and my 558s sound even more incredible then they already did... Plus the zxr mic is very good as well... It's an amazing sound card if u play a lot of games like I do.
