My PC is around 4-5 years old and, as expected, struggling to run Cyberpunk 2077. The current spec is:
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4 GHz (Overclocked to 4.4GHz)
  • CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
  • Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97X-GAMING 7 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
  • Memory: Kingston 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) DDR3-1866 CL9
  • Memory: Kingston 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) DDR3-2400 CL11
  • Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6 GB GAMING
  • Power Supply: Corsair HX 620 W
I'm looking to be able to run Cyberpunk and future games at 1440p 60fps. I'm wondering if just upgrading my graphics card to a 3080 will be good enough for the time being or if I should look at upgrading everything else too? From a cost perspective I would prefer just upgrading the graphics card if possible as this would give me time to save up to upgrade the rest of the machine when needed.

If I can go down the route of just upgrading the graphics card is my PSU going to be able to handle a 3080 or should I look at upgrading that too?

a 3070 or 3060ti should be fine at a guess. Your processor might bottleneck it but as your only aiming for 60fps I dont think that will matter.

The HX should be ok for the 3060 or 3070 but not for the 3080 as it is recommended a 750 watt psu.
