This has probably been discussed many times, but I would like you're thoughts and opinions on using Windows 11 as opposed to using Windows 10

The things I need to consider are:

1. I will be upgrading to Zen 5 once the 3D chips are available

2. Windows 10 support ends in October

3. Staying on Windows 10 and waiting for the next version of Windows, there are speculations it maybe be in the next 12 months

For those of you who have took the plunge and started using Windows 11, what would you're recommendations be.

Thanks in advance

Windows 10 still has another year of support as it does not end until October 2025.

Have you used Windows 11 at all?

What maybe worth doing is throwing in an old SSD\NVME drive and installing Windows 11 on this then give it a try.

I moved to Windows 11 quite some time ago but I do use Explorer patcher to give me all the Windows 10 functions and UI back as I was not a fan of the Windows 11 UI

Stick to 10. Windows 11 is just awful and packed full of bloatware that needs removing plus it is slower for gaming than 10 and by a fair amount too. I wish I stuck with 10!!

This is what I've read online and nearly everyone is saying the same thing,

Like the saying is if it isn't broken don't fix it!

I upgraded my daily driver to Windows 11 quite awhile ago, when they finally added "never combine" for the taskbar.

For the most part, I wouldn't even notice, but overall, it is more annoying and I'm less productive.

At this point though, I'd just go with Windows 11, because moving everything over when supports ends is more annoying than how much Windows 11 is annoying.

I just ignore the benchmarks 'cos there are so many variables (drivers, VBS-on/VBS-off, feature/KB updates, power plans, bios updates, clean/dirty install, etc) and it is hard to draw any conclusions from one set of benchmarks.

If you're on an AMD system seems W11 artificially gimps FPS compared to W10. Might be worth holding out a bit longer to see if AMD and Microsoft can resolve this.

Fyi, I only saw this today on a thread thanks to Humbug, considering moving my 7900X system back to Windows 10.

Try 11 in a virtual machine
Not 100% the full experience
But it's a start

Or just add a second ssd/m2
And have 10 on one 11 on the other
Having 2 drives with an operating system is useful
For quite a few reasons anyway

My OS SSD recently bit the dust so I decided to upgrade from Windows 11 back to Windows 10. Don't regret it for one second.
My FPS has increased by about 15-20% in the games I play and am getting much less hitching in games, of course that could be to do with a totally fresh install as well but I'll stay W10 now until I'm forced to go W11.

For you maybe...

The rest of us still have to use StartAllBack or Explorer Patcher, which isn't always an option (especially in the context of work PCs etc)
Defender has started blocking explorer patcher now and I can no longer update it as Defender is locked down by our IT and exceptions adding disabled.

Home use is fine with no issues updating etc
