Quick question i don't seem to easily be able to find the answer easily. If i upgrade the firmware on my router will i lose any settings i've added? Fixed IP addresses, port forward rules etc...? I've just noticed there have been two versions released since i last bothered, and i suppose i should upgrade, but i can't be bothered with the hassle if i have to reconfigure everything...!

You probably won't lose them but you can usually export your settings and then re-import them once you've upgraded.

I'm only going on my experiences with the Netgear DG834GT here though.

As Aekeron says. The settings should stay (they did on mine) but you can always export them first.

Yeah as mentioned its a Linksys WRT router, but that's irrelevant, as its using the tomato firmware... There is no difference between the tomato firmware on all the support routers.

Thought tomato ran on a couple of other makes.

In my 2 linksys boxes you go to Administration then config management to backup you're settings.

Aha, how i missed that scanning all the options before i'll never know. I think tomato runs a few other routers not many, but i assume its basically exactly the same code, no?

Yeah it's the same code. Its chipset specific. If every router used the same chipset as the Linksys WR series then they could all take tomato.
