mobo: p5ql pro
cpu: e8400 (stock 3.0)
ram: generic ddr2 2X2gig clocks stock i think timings = 6 6 6 18
gpu : sapphire 5830 extreme
1 sata hard drive
1 sata dvd rw
Audio Adapter Creative Audigy Platinum (SB0090) Sound Card
1 usb keyboard semi gaming no extra buttons or lights + 1 us optical mouse ( sidewinder x3)
1 22" wide screen monitor

PSU: 500W OCZ StealthXStream 2

by my calculations it should work just looking for confimation b4 i set it up.....

old setup is same but with 5670 instead only diffrence...
also old setup on generic 700watt with 12v1 19amp and 12v2 15amp

so chaning psu and gpu only need confimation b4 i install dont wanna blow anything
 
If you are upgrading the PSU then I would strongly suggest investing in this one.

It is only £9 more than the OCZ and offers much more capacity, efficiency and overall build quality.

Also, I would suggest going with this £5 more expensive 5850 graphics card - here is how it compares to the 5830.
 
You'll be fine, I have a friend running almost exactly your components on a generic 350w! Not to be recommended but it works, you have the benefit of a decent branded psu. Is the psu already bought, if not may be worth looking at 600w or 650w for future proofing.

upgrading psu and gpu only and yes both brought psu sitting here waiting and gpu arrives within the next 11 hours

just really want confirmation this setup is fine and wont see any expected problems thats all

It really depends on the game.

In some which are much more graphically intensive and put less strain on the CPU (things like unreal engine games) then you will still be very much limited by the GPU (albeit at a relatively high level due to the nice HD 5830).

However, increasingly games are making better use of more than two cores and straining the CPU more - in these games (like BF:BC2, crysis 2 and Civ 5 to name a few) your CPU will be limiting your performance in some situations.
 
but my 5670 vs 5830 i know ill be able to run higher graphic settings but will my fps go up at all

i have bf:bc2+vietnam

will test 2mora when i got set up just wonderd if anyone has any ideas..

Yea, your performance will certainly go up in a big way compared to a HD 5670 - but perhaps not as much as the comparisons would suggest (which use high-end CPUs like i7s) due to your CPU limiting things.
 
well atleast i know the upgrade will be worth it mainly wanted it for bf3 and mw3 hopefully just b4 they come out i can get a 775 socket quad core on here for cheap
