So, I have been reading about the upgrade from amd single to dual core, the hotfix, the amd optimiser etc.
I just want to be clear what I need to do from an intel perspective. There must be some experience out there - a few of you already have core 2 duos and a few must have dual core pentiums.

Do I need a reinstall of windows? or not? or will a repair do instead?
Do I need to install the hotfix?
I obviously will not bother with the AMD optimiser... ;)
Is there anything else I need to do?

I have a p5w dh, a celery 2.53ghz, 800mhz ddr2, an x-fi and a x1800xt.

Any ideas guys?

I am not building a complete system - i just did that with the celeron to flash the *swearword* bios of the p5w dh deluxe so it will accept my e6600 when it eventually arrives...( if you do not know what I am talking about, search the motherboard forum for p5w dh deluxe  )
All I need to do is unclip my scythe ninja, take out the celeron, pop in the e6600 then replace the ninja with some nice fresh as5.
In that case do you think I will not need to reinstall or repair windows?
What about the whole multicore hotfix thingie?

Thanks for the advice..

Have now upgraded. No problems with q4, fear, half-life2 ep1 - no jerking - all running smooth at 1280x1024 with 4xaa and 8xaniso.
