Upgrading with Win 7

As title really, I've had the same basic mobo/cpu combo for 4 years now, and an upgrade is in the works. I reckon this is a testament to the Conroe core that I've had it so long

Anyway, normally when upgrading I've always done a clean reinstall of windows when changing motherboards, but I've never upgraded using Windows 7. Does the same thing still apply, or can I change motherboard and still use the same OS install?

Clean install is usually always better, especially if upgrading most of the hardware.
