Hi,

I am looking to upgrade my sons pc to windows 7 and I have checked with windows 7 upgrade advisor and everything checks out ok.

My wife is a student, so we have used the software for students website many times and I can purchase windows 7 pro at £39 or windows 7 ultimate for £59 from there website.

So the question is, would you upgrade to windows 7 pro or windows 7 ultimate ?

Thanks for any help.

Windows 7 Home Premium would be better if it is cheaper. I sincerely doubt your son needs Pro. If Home Premium isn't there, go for Pro. There is nothing in Pro you need and certainly nothing in Ultimate. :)

MS needs to change the edition names as they lead a lot of people to believe they are missing out if they don't go for Pro or Ultimate.

Should be Home, Business and Business+ :p

Hi,

Thanks for the advise, I would select Home Premium, but your only choice on the website is windows 7 pro or ultimate.

I will purchase the pro version and thanks again.

I just bought the pro version from that same website and am waiting on delivery, it was dispatched promptly but royal mail is being as slow as ever in my area. I researched online and could see no reason the Ultimate edition would be worth the extra £20.
