Well i have been not keeping upto date with the latest chipset/processors for about a year now. My setup at the moment is a Athlon xp 2800 with a asus A7n8x deluxe motherboard, 2gb ram (duel channel) Radeon x800 pro. But i am thinking of upgrading to the duel core processors. But looking at the different type of motherboards and different socket types what do i go for???. I have heard intel processors are quicker???. I do like the Asus motherboards so i would like to stick with that brand and i do like AMD (whats crossfire???) and whats a SLI ready. Is it like my old computer with voodoo 2 graphics cards which where able to join together years ago. So many questions  . I know i will need to upgrade everthing in my old system as my graphics card is agp. all i want to know whats the best way to go intel/amd and whats the best motherboard. Thanks :)

intel C2D are currently the better cpu to go for
If you like Asus mobos then the P5N32-E SLI 680i is one of the best (the striker is the same with extra bits for pointlessly large ammounts of more money)

Crossfire is two ATI (now AMD) cards joined togetehr to make them more powerful

SLI is the same for nvidia

"SLI Ready" is just a marketing gimick for RAM etc which says its better for SLI
but its also used on PSUs etc to tell you it can provide enough pwoer for SLI/has the right cables, also used on motherboards to let you know it has two 16 speed PCI-E slots for dual graphics cards

hope this helps
