Upgrading

Hi there hoping to upgrade my old motherboard and cpu memory, have an I5 2500k at the moment. Was just trying to decide wether to go for i5 6600k or i7 6700k.
Is there much of a difference in performance for the price difference.
I mainly game at 1080. But might got for 4K in the future

Got asus strix gtx 970, XFX 650 watt and 8gb 1600mhz ram
The processor was oc when I got it 5 years ago.
Just been having some problems with of freezing up.
Got the cash just now for upgrade

Sorry but I have no idea how to take the oc off.
Replaced the hard drive and gfx and have run memtest.
But still freezes ever now and then

Cheers for that hopefully I'll get time to try that tomorrow or sat.
If it makes no difference and I go for upgrade,was just wondering if a stock i7 6700k would be better than an oc i5 6600k. Wouldn't be able to afford an oc i7
