upgrage spec help

have got an old pc in my bedroom which is used as a media player but will like to upgrade the spec slightly/cheaply.
currently got an:
abit ic7/max3 board
1 gig ram
a 2.4ghz socket 478 intel.
radeon 8500
creative soundcard.
running vista.

ideally would like 2 gig of ram with a motherboard with onboard graphics and sound that support hdcp for hd via dvi. would prefer intel but not against amd either. many thanks

how would the athlon chip compare to my current chip. would it be enough for vista to run at a decent speed.
also how the onboard graphics cope with hd and dvd playback?
