Anyone played the absolute astoundingly genius hacking game uplink?

I'd just like to see if it's still widespread now, otherwise i'll give y'all a quick review. I know a lot of people on here are in the mindset of gameplay > Graphics and like a challenge, so I reckon this is right up their street. And then some.

Yep, got it and played it to death. Once you work out how easy it is to hack the major banks, it loses its appeal quite quickly though. Still fun for wasting some time or for older systems.

Yeah, this is what I found.

There is however, a mod. It's called Onlink. If you played Uplink 'till you knew all the ins and outs, well, Onlink basically says "I see your proficiency, I laugh at your frail attempts to bypass my stuff"

Remember when you'd break the bank admin, take all the account details, and break each one for money? The details are encrypted now. Simply buying a monitor bypass isn't good enough anymore, as security levels slowly increase. Managing RAM, Bandwidth on top of CPU power and HDD capacity, multiple gateways, you name it. With the next release there's a whole new storyline, plus multiple parallel smaller storylines, new security systems, the ability to make simple C++ viruses (No programming knowledge necessary)...tones of stuff. I've barely stopped playing.

Wow, I didn't know so many people had even tried it...

When the new release of Onlink is out i'll link it up here. It doesn't matter if you don't have uplink anymore because Onlink's source code is changed or something; what it amounts to is you can legally download and run Onlink with all it's stuff.

Monitor bypass? WTF is that meant to be? I assume it's something to mask what's being shown on the monitor client side (victim side).

Aha. Basically in Vanilla Uplink there are three security systems (I think, I only play onlink now which has 6), and Monitor is simply that; it monitors what you do on the server and if you try and access somewhere your IP shouldn't, it'll start to trace you. Therefore you'd need to bypass it in order to get enough time in certain servers.
