Uploading images

Hi guys,
just a quick one i hope, i have set up my own forum and im looking to upload images so that i can post them on my forum but i do not want anyone else to be able to do it?

Is there no way i can just upload the image to my site via ftp and then link directly to it?

If you have FTP access I don't see why you couldn't do that. What's the problem?

Well yeah, if you have access to FTP and have a forum, you can link to images.... why you would think otherwise i'm not sure.

this is the file location on my site but if i browse straight to it, it does not come up.

Might it be a permissions problem? What's the result if you put the file on the root of your directory tree?

same thing mate, gonna setup a new sub domain on my site like image.pcsupergeeks.co.uk and host images from there. i wil let you know how i get on

got it going, put everything into the htdocs directory on the new sub domain, best to keep images separate i think.

When you install forum scripts/programs they usually come with their own .htaccess file that restricts where files can be read from...
