(uploading)making digital copies of old VHS videos

Hi all,
I need to find a way of uploading/making digital copies of old homemade VHS video tape. Can you get add-ons for laptops or desktop machines which will let me connect my VCR to them so i can make digital copies of them please?

You can buy capture cards (these can vary in price from £10-1000's) for example OCuk sell https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-003-AV

I bought a SVHS video recorder from fleabay a few years back to digitise my mums old wedding video. If you haven't got a VHS player yet try & locate one with a TBC (time based corrector) & an S-VHS output

there are some cheap ones on popular auction site... are these to be avoided or will they do the same thing at a cheaper price?

If it's just a one-off and you don't want to buy any extra kit, there are plenty of companies that do this sort of thing as well.

got several tapes i want to convert and thats about it... old family videos, weddings etc

Thanks...trying to work out if i should pay more for a better known brand or just go with the cheap chinese knockoff....
