I have a webspace package with 123 Reg.

I'm using CuteFTP 8.0.

I built a basic website using Namo WebEditor 2006. I'm now trying to upload it to my webhost and get it online, but I'm tripping up right at the start.

In Namo Web Editor, the finished website is stored in My Documents in a folder called My Site. Within this folder is the website I want to upload, contained in a folder called Site4.

Now, what I've done is uploaded the Site4 folder to my webhost, but once it successfully completes, and I try and browse my website, it comes up with a page saying HTTP Error 403 - Forbidden and "You are not authorized to view this site".

I wondered if it was because I had uploaded the folder rather than the individual files of the website contained within it, so I tried selecting all the files and uploading them that way so they all went into my webspace as individual files, rather than in a folder. After that, I can view the home page of the website, but its missing the banner and some pictures and the navigation buttons wont work either. The progress bar in I.E. once you are on the home page, never goes up past 50% and it states "6 items remaining" to show.

This is the website:-

And here's a screenshot of whats in my CuteFTP screen after I have uploaded the individual files to my host:-

I'm probably missing something really obvious and making a noobies mistake somewhere, so any help would be appreciated.

And here was me thinking building the website was going to be the hardest part, I thought the FTP transfer would be a doddle!!!.

Thanks for taking the time to reply m8, I appreciate it.

Can you elaborate a wee bit though?. Read through your post and I'm a bit confused as to what I need to do to fix this. :(

Ok, I think I'm getting somewhere now.

I uploaded again and this time had it look like it does on my PC, as far as the arrangement of files go.

I put all the images into one folder called images.

However, all of the pictures are still missing from various pages, despite the actual gifs and jpegs being all in the images folder?.

This is how it looks now, click for full sized piccy:-

Thanks for the info m8.

I dont know what I was doing wrong with CuteFTP, but what I did was go back into Namo WebEditor and select the "publish site", filling in the relevant details, password etc for the web hosting.

It seems to have done the trick, everything is working as it should now. :D

I ought to say, the site is far from finished, its work in progress and I really only put it up in order to see how it looked and get to grips with the FTP transferring side of things.

I would have preferred to get to grips with CuteFTP, but this will do for now until I can work out where I was going wrong.

I now have to work out how to get the site to show up in any search engines. I think I need to change my DNS settings in the "web forwarding" section of my control panel at 123Reg, but I'm not sure.

The second option in this screenshot looks about the thing I should be changing?:-
