UPS and PDU

I've seen most UPS's state not to attach a multi socket extension socket to them would this be the case with metered switched pdu aswell?
 
Never heard of that, almost all of our UPSes at work have either iec socket PDUs or normal 4 way (UK plug) extension leads connected.

I would say it's probably just a disclaimer to discourage people from overloading them by plugging too many devices in

Not seen it in any other UPS' I've used.

Mine has run happily with a splitter in one of the sockets for a couple of years. I did specifically ensure it had the lowest possible load on it all the same.
