Hi guys

I am looking to purchase a UPS but most of them will require kettle plug extenders. This is ok for PC & monitor, etc but what about units that use power packs? I have found this thing that looks like it would work but i cannot see any in the UK plug format. What would they be called?

Thanks

Cut the end off one of the cables and wire it up to a socket? I kinda doubt such a thing exists off the shelf.

Insert usual warnings about mains voltages, frying yourself and burning your house down here... You might be able to get an electrician to do it for you if you're not happy doing it yourself.

No chance you can just buy a handful of them and some US-UK converters?

Depends whether you're willing to lose the ground connection too, however.

As far as I can work out the official term for that sort of cable is an IEC cable, so an IEC extension cord sounds about right and brings up plenty of results.

Here's a UK one I found http://www.cabling4less.co.uk/Mains_Leads.php
(Note to mods: I'm hoping this link is okay since it only seems to be a cable specialist and not really a competitor to the few cable product lines OCUK stocks?)
