UPS close to my telephone socket

I have my UPS around 12" from my telephone socket and I'm just wondering as it is a (sort of) power supply, could it interfere with my broadband signal regarding line 'noise' i.e. compromise my SNR levels

It would be a bit of a pain if I had to move it somewhere else but it would be worth it as I'm not yet on Max DSL and I want to maximise my chances of getting a faster broadband speed.

Just another little query.

My ethernet cable coming out from the back of the router is in close proximity to all my electrical wiring - can this affect the broadband signal or is ethernet cable shielded from interference?

The telephone wire coming out from my telephone socket has now been moved out of the way of any possible causes of interference so I was wondering if I need to do the same with the ethernet cable as well?

Perhaps I should buy one of those plastic cable sleeves to tidy things up? :o

Thanks Phnom_Penh :)

I have just bought a plastic cable sleeve as I had to go shopping in town anyway.
My wiring is all neat and tidy now and away from the ethernet cable just to be on the safe side.

Mu UPS caused interferance with the analogue part of my telephone line, my broadband was un affected but when i used the telephone line surge protector on my UPS it caused interferance for my phones. Once i used a different surge protector it was fine again even though the cable is still next to the UPS

After using plastic cable sleeving (cable tidy) as shown below, I get improved line stats with my Attenuation level going down from 56dB to 54dB and my S/N ratio going from around 25.5dB to 28.5dB and it must be due to the interference as if I take the cable tidy off the ethernet cable (which must help to shield the broadband signal from my UPS and surge protector mains extension) then the line stats go back to where they were before

p.s. these line stats have been showing this improvement ever since I bought the cable tidy yesterday so it isn't just a temporary thing.
