I had a parcel delivered which was left in a hallway shared by myself and an elderly neighbour. She had left £20 and a chocolate bar for a friend picking up something from her door, my UPS driver stole it.

She shouldn't have left money there, but she'd been doing it for years so felt safe. I tried to give her the money, she refused. It's her crying and the realisation there's crap people out there that was sad.

I've emailed UPS the details, but that'll be instantly deleted.

How to write a great cover story.

1. Set up the scene so [=you] are the good guy.
2. Add non-certified 'evidence' like details of how she wears her hair you have a shared hallway.
3. Does she have stairs in her house?
4. Assume authority figure but also have less than 16 inch arms like Roar (who will be furious) [I've emailed UPS the details, but that'll be instantly deleted.] before pleading for help.

Cool cool.
What's wrong with you?

Ups drivers tend to be long term employees and not random contractors so I’d guess it’s an innocent mistake or he didn’t take it.
It now sounds as though my elderly neighbour may have issues. The tears filled episode at my door was apparently not her first time. She has previously woken up the entire building at 4am (I wasn't there) after calling the fire brigade, her reason was a tiny leak in her sink.

I emailed UPS to explain, she has no evidence except "it was taken when your driver arrived".

Lesson learned, don't be emotionally blackmailed into sending a complaint, use only facts. I've gone from feeling extremely sorry for this woman to seriously doubting anything she has said, I'm utterly embarrassed now.
