UPS for phone system

Hi

Having looked at UPS systems they all need some sort of software installing on the machine they are protecting.

Can they be used without installing the software as I need to connect it to the control unit of a phone system?

The software is only for monitoring and to allow it to gracefully shut down the PC before the battery expires. You don't need it for the UPS to function

I have only installed the software on my APC smartUPS once, never really used it so uninstalled it. I now use a BackUPS without any software, windows allows me to set options such as shut down/hibernate/standby at a certain battery level etc..
