Just got a Synology DS918+ and im interested in getting a UPS to keep my discs safer during the event of a power cut.
Im absolutely clueless on UPS, whats the cheapest one i could get that will be enough just to power my DS918+ while it shuts down safely?

Like 100W power supply tells, power draw of NAS isn't high even when fully loaded.

If you want normal UK power plugs to fit for occasionally connecting also something else to UPS, I would suggest Cyberpower BRIC serie.
If you don't need that and can use IEC cord/or know that you won't be connecting anything else, then there are lot more choises.
(like Cyberpower UT-serie)

In gener you want to look for more tower like models with some grating or mesh for UPS to have chances of airflow inside it.
Flat "shoe boxes" without any airflow aren't good for longevity.
Even if UPS in normal AC operation doesn't produce much of heat, plastic insulates it inside.

APC BX700UI

You want a UPS with a usb connection. You connect the usb to the NAS and it will tell it when to shut down (typically when the UPS has only 10% battery left etc)

I have the above UPS. Lasts around half an hour ish with my NAS.

Awesome, £71 seems decent ill grab one soon

Bear in mind, it probably won't come with the cable you need. You'll want either a "IEC C14 plug - 13A socket" or buy a C14 end and chop a cable to make whatever you need.
