I have two APC ups at this one site and I have been trying to get in to them management of the devices to enable email notifications.
The one is SMT1500RMI2U and the other is an older smart ups 1500 from 2004.
There is only one physical windows server pc on the network. As well as two esx and one hp msa.
Using the powerchute software and connecting the ups to the windows server via usb i can get each of the ups individually detected by the software but i can't get both of them detected even though they are both picked up in the device manager etc. I think this may be a limitation of the agent, ie one ups per agent. Am i correct in saying that you can only connect one ups via usb to one server for management?
I think I can connect one of the ups to the esx as there was some notes on how to get the ups management agent installed on the esx and then using the software on the window server use the agent on the esx. Any other methods that i can use? there is no network management of these ups available.
My first time dealing with ups so a may just be wrong all together.
