UPS VA/wattage question

I have a 620W power supply which I understand the maximum peak power 620W, perhaps more (apparently 680W)

Now if I plug a UPS in will I have to make sure the UPS provides upto 620w? in this case around 1200VA. Would the UPS be OK if I were to use a 500VA UPS (total output 300W) or not?

it depends if your PC is REALY using THAT much power all the time.

Probably not. But if I get lowest VA rating UPS ie around 300W then once I started adding hd's the ups might struggle supplying the current? (on mains power 99.99% of the time of course, but if PC PSU goes through the UPS then need greater maximum regardless)
