Upsampling to 96KHz - will it slow my games down?

Use fraps, and you can see for yourself if your fps drops or not. It shouldn't affect it though. Also, do you have good quality speakers, if not, then there's no point raising the sampling rate so high. With my cheap logitechs, I can't tell the difference between 16 bit 4100 and 24 bit 9600.

Gotta agree there.

At 44100 you have a top end response of around 22khz, at 96000 you have a top end response of around 48khz.

Your hearing rapidly falls off in the 20khz area so you will not be gaining much from 96000 anyway.... even if you have top notch reproduction kit.

Cheers, I'll give fraps a whirl.

I'm using the digital out on my soundcard to go into a DEQ2496, which upsamples to 96KHz anyway, so it doesn't make a huge difference really...
