Hey all, I've specced up an HTPC which I'll be ordering at the end of the week. I'll be using an AMD 5050e processor and the Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H AMD 780G mobo with ATI Radeon HD3200 integrated graphics.

I watch a lot of DVD's and was wondering if upscaling via ffdshow would be affected/improved by using a dedicated graphics card? Especially if the CPU isn't up to the job.

I'm looking at the HD 3450 to keep the cost down.

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: I'll be using a 720p TV for use with this if that helps.

Nope wont make any difference at all. I do exactly that using a 780G mobo and its works fine.

It would take some of the strain off the CPU perhaps but if you buy something like a 4850e CPU it will be fine and wont max the CPU out at 100%.

Just thought i'd say, if you do decide to add a card the 3450 is very good for the price. Plays my blu-ray and hi-def movies @ 720p and some light gaming including Burnout paradise (medium settings)
