Atm I've got a sharp LC-32P50E which, even though its low res (960 x 540 I believe) gives a very good picture that I'm well pleased with. Now I've got a non upscaling dvd player, a cambridge audio DVD57. My question is, a mate wants to buy me sharp lcd screen, so if I was to get a high res screen capable of resolutions higher than 1024 x 768, will this screen be able to upscale the image to a higher res, even though I've got a non upscaling player?

The screen will automatically upscale or downscale inputs to it's own resolution if they are not already exactly the same res as the screen.

Thats what I suspected, I suppose image quality depends on how well it does this, apparently, dvd players generally do a better job of this than screens?
