Uptick in email spam getting to inbox?

Yep I have seen an increase of spam but it’s where by DMARC fails and it goes into the spam folder.

However, some are getting through the filters and are appearing in inbox but I mark as spam and report it.

Isn’t loads but there’s an increase of spam though.

I’m not finding myself subject to any additional email spam, regardless of provider (got a mix of self-hosted, Google apps and Microsoft 365).

I am however getting increasingly annoyed with pre-recorded Chinese calls regarding deliveries that I must pay for. I’m really confused how this scam is supposed to work, targeting Chinese speakers first on UK numbers seems more than a little stupid, even for scammers). I mean, they ultimately play the message again in English, but why?

Another thing about getting spam is that it means some scum has your email.

I recently found out my ancient email is getting constantly brute forced or having a list cycled on it. Every couple of minutes an attempt is made and microsoft has months and years of logs of this.

Yeah, I should change my email but I can’t be arsed. It got leaked from some obscure forum hack ages ago.

It’s all down to the mail filtering systems. There’s a thing now where spammers are signing up to likes of hotmail, outlook, gmail etc and using these to spam so the emails get through with no delivery issues what so ever.
That's true, at work most if not all the spam that reaches our clients inboxes are from gmail, sad part is because it's from gmail people instantly think that it's not spam!

A lot of my spam emails include a "click here to unsubscribe" link, but I'm loathed to click them, in case I simply confirm my email addy is real and I get bombarded with even more spam!

Outlook is genrally quite good at filtering spam straight to the junk folder, but some spam of a very similar nature ends up in my inbox and some emails from places I subscribe to always end up in the junk folder.

Bumping my own thread but is anyone getting a lot of "McAfee" spam today? Oh no, the subscription I don't have has expired again!

No joke, I’ve had about 20 “Screwfix” spam emails today. Quite a few made it to my inbox rather than just the spam folder.
