Old man is doing more digital photography and my step bro plays games like FM07, AOE etc.

Stuck 2 gigs of ram in it, but the graphics is chugging abit. Radeon 7500 64mb.

He only wants to spend £70 but will prolly spend upto £100.

I know whats out there but I want some feed back off people. Will prolly be in his comp 2 years so dont want any old crap. Has to be AGP.

Toss up atm between :

and

but am here to be convinced otherwise if something better or cheaper that will do the job.

Tell him to save longer, i don't think you'd feel as pleased if you brought anything lower then a 7900 or 1900/1950, though there are some very good 7600 cards.

Personally i think the best money u could spend would be as suggested mishima, the 1950, but obviously once its in stock. The card will last longer and perform better, imo better value for money.

Preference tells me to say 7900, but the 1950 at that price imo would be a better performing card.

Has to be AGP, thats PCI-E

Going to struggle then, cause the gap between the X1650 and the X1950 in AGP format is quite big.

I would try finding a 9800 Pro or 9800 XT for £50 if I was you, I'm running one in this system now and it still performs brilliant!

AGP PLEASE! :o

I thought you said you didn't want any old crap. Digital photography isn't going to be helped by the graphics card anyway though. Try looking for a 7600gs or x1650 pro.

the 7600gs is a perfect match for that spec. it's a good deal faster than the 9800pro and that was top dog back in the days of socket A. :)

I'd get the 7600GS out of those two. I've found that these are your options w/r to AGP upgrades ((S/H)=Second hand) :-

9800 Pro(S/H), 6600 GT(S/H), 6800 GS(S/H), 7600GS (£82), 6800GT(S/H), X800XT(S/H) 7600GT (£118), x1950 Pro (£152)

You can get a new XFX GeForce 6800 GT AGP 256MB for £98 delivered. Quite a bit faster than the 7600gs.
