hi all

im about to install this motherboard and will be using raid 0.

so i put the asus cd in and i want to create raid drivers onto a usb stick ready for the install but i constantly get an error

unable to get disk information

so i cant get the drivers off the cd onto the usb stick and i dont have a floppy drive to use.

has anyone had this problem? i have used two pcs and a couple of different memory sticks and still get the same error?

thanks

Loki

all i seem to be able to find on the asus website is the "make driver disk software" which is the same program thats on the driver disk which fails to find the usb stick.

will the drivers be specifically tailored for the mobo or are they generic intel drivers which i could download from somewhere else or even may already be pre installed on the vista disk?

They'll be the generic Intel drivers.

Which OS? Vista has the Intel RAID drivers built in.

its vista 64 bit home premium

when i do the windoes install and it says press "X" to install 3rd party drivers do i press it or do i leave it and vista sorts itself?

Leave it and let it run on to the hard drive selection screen. It should then allow you to select the RAID. Once Vista is installed install the latest Intel Matrix drivers from here.

How do you do this for XP?

I have a brand new set up with only two raptors set to become RAID 0. No floppy. I put the drivers on a USB stick, but the XP install only says Setup can not find a floppy. Well no kidding.

The bios sees the USB stick, why won't the XP install?

If I load XP on an IDE, can I create the raid later if XP is on one of the raid disks?

Grrrrrr

You need a floppy drive to install XP onto RAID if using an original XP disk. You can however use nLite to intergrate the RAID drivers onto the XP CD. This is by far the best method as getting XP onto RAID can be difficult.
