Ok so there is a fault with the standard acer travelmate 2700 bios so i updated the bios from the acer site. set the machine going on that, when i got back to it the screen was blank. so i had to power it off, now when i boot it on i get a beep code of one long and 2 short for video failure, is there anything i can do or is it a lost cause

First thing to try - Reset CMOS.
Try booting with no RAM in...
