URGENT! crashed and cant recover/open open office doc

My system has just crashed and when I boot back up and tried to open the document I am greeted with ASCII Filter options, I click 'OK' then I am greeted with this error

Document file 'Moncaster%20Isaac%20256186%20Final%20Statement%20 2010.odt' is locked for editing by:

Unknown User

Open document read-only or open a copy of the document for editing.

choosing either option opens a blank document. when I try to re-open the document, the same thing happens. I've tried opening the document via the terminal as root, but still no luck.

Any help would immediately be amazing!
