Hi, had a slight strange problem today.
Started to decorate the Kitchen / Dining room at home. The ceiling in the kitchen had some paint that was cracking so i rubbed it down with a wire brush etc so that the whole ceiling was ok.
Started painting with a roller on the ceiling and within 5 - 10 minutes the paint, including the old paint was coming off in chunks. I left it for a while then went back to it and you can pull of huge strips of paint from the ceiling, the ceiling is also artexed,
I have never had this before and have no idea what to do. perhaps some of you out there can shed some light and help me out. Do i have to strip the whole ceiling of the old paint, or is there some sort of primer , specialist product that i can get and put on.
Im at a loss
Thank you

Yes, definitely give it a good clean. You *can* use a little bit of carbolic soap in water if you've got any rather than a trip out to buy sugar soap. Sugar soap should do the trick but kitchen grease can be difficult to clean off a large surface, especially a porous one. Another one that is difficult is the sticky grime from cigarette smoke. Again, carbolic does a better job of shifting it than sugar soap...
