I just downloaded the Nvidia Forceware 177.83 drivers for my 9600GT's SLI (32-Bit Vista) which i got because of the physx support. after d/l i ran the setup. halfway through the install my screen went blank but the computer had not stopped responding as the light on the Screen was still green (instead of orange for standby) and my music was still playing.

The nvidia Website said it supported the graphics card.

is it safe to switch the pc off or will this just make it worse?

please help im completely stuck

thanks in advance

Can you get to task manager to try to kill the install app/music etc ?

If not you may have to switch off.

Either way, when you get back to your desktop it may be a good idea to run driver sweeper & cleaner in safe mode.

Then install without any other apps/music running.

Sometime you can get task manager up with CTRL-ALT-DEL even if you cant see the desktop.

If not i think you will have to power reset.

it seems to have sorted itself out i held the power button and when it rebooted it went straight into windows and nvidia control panel reports that forceware 177.83 (the one i tried to install) is the driver

I had the same thing, what is your monitors resolution? (My gaming PC is 1680x1050). I ended up going back to the older drivers - booted into safe mode and deleted.)

i didn't have enough funds for a good monitor so i have to use my ancient monitor from my Dell XPS R400 from 1999 so it has a native res of 1280x1024!!!!

I've got Duel screen and with the 177.83 drivers I couldn't get a picture on my widescreen monitor for love or money...back to the old driver and the monitor is recognised...strange but true!
