oh dear - my PC is toast in some way !

been fiddling with lower overclocks recently to reduce power used ... so with my Q6600 I was only at a lowly 3.2 gig (used to run it at 3.6) - and relatively low Vcore

well its been perfect, passed hours of Prime95 etc

tonight went for a meal - turned it off ... turned it back on . nada - absolutely nothing ... :(

turned on and off - still no post :(

took GFX card out and used CMOS reset - still no post

took battery out - still no post :(

took all but one stick of RAM out - still no post :(

took all sticks out - and now mobo does continuous boot - so that part of it seems to be working

took out CPU - and put back in ... still no post

took out GFX card and put in the 4x PCI-E slot

still no post

any ideas please ? I'm so annoyed

Mobo toast (P5B Deluxe)

any clues please.

thanks, Mark.

Have you got another PSU to test with?

it could be any of your parts causing it tbh, does it sound like it's booting?

i would try swapping every part out individually.

Definately sounds like it could be the power supply. Try using some different memory and check the connectors for your power switch (had the same problem once and turned out just to be the power switch was comming loose when I opened the case door ).

hi guys thanks for the tips :)

guess what it was my BALLISTIX !

well I think anyway - one pair of them

going off for RMA - pc now working with the others

CPU is limping a bitnow though ! had to take cooler off and broke one of the pushpins off ! so only on 3 corners .... temps are ok - but it wouldn't boot any higher than 2.6 gig ... Sycthe Mine should be here tomorrow - to sort that out

thanks again,

Mark.

lol !

perhaps if it wasn't at 2am I would have thought the same !

thing is I'd dropped to only 1 stick out of 4 !

who'd of thought that would have been one of the guilty party ! oops!
