Urgent Help - CPU Fan not working!

When I boot up the CPU fan is not starting up. Other fans and graphics card work fine. What would be the cause of this? Motherboard or the fan?

try another fan slot on the motherboard?

There is only one CPU fan slot. The cable wont reach the case fan slot

can you try another fan in the same place? see if its problem with that connection. You could then get a 3in fan to 4 pin power connector and plug it into that

Got an adapter. Doesn't work. must be the fan that is broken.

Is this a new build or did the fan used to come on at startup? Reason I ask is because some motherboards have a setting which keeps the fan turned off until the CPU reaches a specific temperature.

Seens it dosen't work off a molex adapter, so likely dead fan.

Was a dead fan. Got a replacement and works now. Lucky it didn't cause any damage as it was running for about 5 mionutes with no fan until it crashed!
