Hey guys I really need your help :(
My bfg 8800 gt oc has decided as of today to die..

I need a new graphics card around the 200 quid mark but looking into it I have found it to be a massive mine field.

Any input or advice would be very very gratefully received.

Thanks in advance guys, having no gaming rig even for a day is already starting to kill me. Cheers guys

Ok cheers guys I went for the gigabyte 480 GTX :)

But oh dear popped it into my xfx 780i SLI and and I get a mobo fault code of 26 ..Great

Btw the fault code means (Clock Gen Init onboard clock generator and sensor)

Not very helpful :(

May be a dumb question, but have you got both PCIE connectors plugged in? Both six and eight pin? Also, have you checked the card is seated ok? Try removing and reseating the card.

After googling the error code it looks like either the card isn't compatable with the board, or you might not have the power connectors to the card set up properly :

Different board I know but same error code. He though his card wasn't compatable but realised he'd left off one of the psu wires.

Worth checking I guess if you haven't already.

Ok thanks for your replies guys :)

I now realise it wasnt fault code 26 but actually 2b oops ...that mean it stops on initializing video. ah ha

Ok so I reseated the card and nothing ...then pushed it soo hard I almost snapped the the mobo in half and ta da it worked !! Brill !!

Until about three hours later it again did the same thing and I lost all video :(

Basically it doesnt want to stay in place ? I mean its as hard in there as its going to go so as I have some sort of electrical connection issue.

Ive have popped to my mates to nick his can of air to blow out my video slot on the mobo, and will update later as I needed to get out the house as computer issues such as annoying ones like these really stress me out lol

Oh and have cleaned the blade connector on the video card already.

I mean what else can I do ?
