I'm in a real pickle here, hopefully someone can help. I have my windows update set to manual as i like to control when and what it downloads and installs. I went to install a load a few minutes ago and forgot to uncheck the langauge packs before hitting download! this meant the total size of the download was nearly 6gigs. As i only had about 6gb left on my windows partition as soon as the temp file for these files was created, windows ran out of space and froze up. After a restart it seems what the temp file is still there and hasn't been deleted and for the life of me i cant find where it night be to do it manually. this means that when i log into windows theres only about 100mb of space on c: drive and after a few minutes this reduces to zero and windows locks up again!!! i'm franticly typing this before i have to restart again so hopefully it makes sense.

Anyone have any suggestions?

oh, im running vista ultimate x64 (wouldnt let me edit my first post for some reason)

well I am not sure where the files are stored but I guess it would be possible to run a Linux Live CD and then take a look around your drive. I am guessing then it would not freeze or complain about a lack of disc space (I assume live CDs don't store ANY data on the HDD).

Safe mode? You would probably need to delete c:\windows\softwaredistribution folder.

Yes! thats where they were hiding, in the downloads folder inside \windows\softwaredistribution

Thanks for the quick responses....crisis averted.
