Hi all I'm currently mid way through my first ever build, I'm a bit stuck,

I have a corsair carbide spec 03 case and gigabyte z97 d3h

I've come to fitting the motherboard in the case and the peer installed stand offs do not aline with my motherboard as I know if I do this wrong it will wreck the system what do I need to do ? Is this common ?

Apologies for pursing this, but sometimes the I/O panel has little clips that have to be lifted up, to allow the motherboard's I/O ports to fit properly (and the motherboard to slide a little further into position). You'd be able to see if that's the case by looking at the I/O panel from the back and seeing if any of the ports are blocked by such clips. If that isn't it, please ignore this.

the board is not a full fat atx board
full atx size is 305mm (l) x 244mm (w)
the z97 d3h is actually only 305 x 214 mm, so i guess just screw in as many mounting screws as you can =x

oh..
i dont own the case so i cant advise you directly, but i think i know what u mean
im guessing the case offers extra stand off points for different size mobos, all you have to do is just install the stand offs for atx-sized boards. and remove the rest of the standoffs

Bingo, I think. :)

This is what I thought but being my first I wanted to check they can be removed so I'll just do that scared of making an error

they *should* be removable
as always post a pic of what you mean. a pic is so much easier to work with and saves misinterpretation

Yeah make sure that you only have standoffs fitted that line up with your mobo screw holes, your right if a standoff does touch the board somewhere else then thats very bad!
