Basically i think i've balls up my computer. I had just installed the latest forceware drivers for my comp, i had installed it fine (i think) but i had no sound. so i restarted, still no sound. i couldn't really be bothered to sort it all out so i used windows system restore function and tried putting it back to an earlier state. Early this afternoon. When it restarted it wont load into windows. It shows the normal bios screen goes through the normal setup, and i think just as its supposed to load into windows, it turns off. It restarts itself, gives me the option to start in safe mode. Whatever option i choose it still doesn't load into windows, it just keeps restarting. What can i do??? I could really do with some quick replies pls, i have essays on there that i need to get off ASAP. Thanks very much people.

I would suggest taking the hard drive out and outting it in another pc ( if this is possible ) and get the data back that way, just so you dont do any more damage to the data.

Ok i should be able to put it in another comp and save everything. but what is actually wrong with the computer? Will a new hdd solve the problem, or is it a knackered component?

Hmm this is a weird one, but maybe your windows installation has become corrupt somehow? You could (after you have retrieved your data) format the HDD and hopefully that will solve the problem, I doubt any part is knackered but you can never be too sure :p

From what it sounds like.

You don't need to buy anything new, nothing should be broken compenent wise.

Probably just a currupted main file, or some driver issues that windows doesn't like.

Once you've got your data backup'ed up by putting the HD into another PC, but it back into the PC it was originally in, then just try and repair windows by booting from the windows CD, or re-install it if wont repair.

Make sure you have all your stuff backed up first tho :)
