I have two asus 165hz screens. Last week my main screen defaulted to 60hz from 165. It reset fine. Yesterday the screen would not work at all error "out of range". I tried different cable and swappedscreens .. still same error. Booted into safe mode and still same error when trying to set above 60hz. Went to restart windows in normal mode and now nothing at all apart from screen menu and a no signal message. Is my gpu dead? I have a asus gtx 980ti matrix ... need pc urgently

Ive got the asus maximus extreme vii. Will have to look when home. So if i have then run graphics from mobo via enable in bios. Heck the gpu isnt old. Will have to look at warranty

ok, I can't fit the Matrix into my other system so I can't test it out on another machine. I have now tried the "reset" button to make sure the GPU is back at factory specs and just tried to start .. nope nothing. After several attempts I had a "no signal" message and an "out of range" message. I was also trying to run the screen direct off the mobo, but of course I can't get the screen to work to alter settings in bios .. any other tricks or tips anybody can think of before I RMA it ..

oh wow .. from Asus themselves?

Yup. Did you buy it from OCUK?

Hi there

Though Asus is always in our top three of VGA brands and regular in no.1 position simply due to the quality of their product one issue for a lot of customers has being perceived RMA service being poor.

Asus generally offer great service for the reseller the issue being is your then in the resellers hands for RMA terms.

As of today, OcUK is launching Asus Turbo RMA service. What this means for OcUK customers is any VGA card you purchase from OcUK that develops a fault within the 3yr ownership period will have the following actioned within 48hrs of receiving your faulty card back and it being tested as faulty:

1. Replacement for identical card or next card up.
2. If GPU is EOL then a replacement to equivalent or faster performing card.
3. If a suitable replacement is not found then a refund at market value which should enough to buy you a same performing or slightly faster card.

All of the above will be actioned within 48hr of receiving your confirmed faulty Asus VGA product back with ourselves for the complete 3yr warranty period.

We believe this service now makes Asus one of the very top choices for a graphics card as you now have a UK place to return the product for the whole 3yr period with a very fast turn-around time.

So I hope this makes you happy and you welcome the "Asus Turbo 3yr RMA Service" available exclusively from OcUK.

*Asus B-grade items fall under regular b-grade 90 day warranty terms.

**Asus cards returned to us must be un-modified and free of physical damage.

If you reset the CMOS, it'll probably start the built in GPU.

That is fantastic news :-) thank you so much for that ... I've taken the gpu out and the onboard GPU fired up without any changes in bios. Booted straight into windows without a hitch. So, I've counted out the screen, counted out the cables, counted out any bad settings (using safe mode on both pc and GPU) .. are there any other tests I can try ? Perhaps I should pull out a gtx970 and make sure the mobo is ok ?? or is it irrelevant?

Yes try the 970 and see if that works in it. It will rule out then a bad PCIE slot too, and if that works stick the 980ti in again and if nothing then it's time to RMA it as you have done everything to troubleshoot it then.

oh dear ..... I swapped out the 980 for the 970 .... nope nothing .. so that means it's the mobo ... Asus Maximus viii extreme ... I put all this together back in November last year .. what would have caused this? I'll contact OCUK for an RMA ... hell really not looking forward to rebuilding ..

what the heck do I do about cleaning off the thermal paste on my Corsair cpu cooler? Never had to re-apply one? And is there any way of saving my bios settings prior to pulling it apart so I don't have to do it all over again?
