Urgent help required!

Hi all.

Just moved to uni and i'm having trouble with my laptop.. it seems at random intervals it decides to type certain characters randomly.. earlier today i had a constant spamming of the spacebar and couldnt really do anything!

Just wondering if there is a way to disable the laptops keyboard and use a usb keyboard as an alternative? its a sony vaio laptop and is a couple of years old if this helps!

I'm not sure about disabling in bios although you could check. However most laptops allow the keyboard to be unclipped, just be careful when taking off the ribbon cable that attaches it.
