Was just removing catalyst drivers, suddenly Smartdoctor (Asus) pops up and says Warning VGA has overheated and reading 119 degrees?! I can't hear the gpu fan spinning, and now my catalyst drivers has gone and Smart doctor is not responding and says cannot find graphics card...

What should I do?

smartdoctor is the devil...turn on the puter and make sure the GPU fan is spinning, if it is then go into windows and uninstall smartdoctor....download driversweeper...reboot into safe mode...run driversweeper and clean ATI drivers....reboot into windows and install latest catalysts.

Pretty sure it's not spinning, just looked at hardware monitor and my gpu card is nowhere to be seen.

edit: now ATI says i do not have an ATI card?!

Ok REALLY strange.. I listened to my gf (she said turn it off for like 20 min) and now it works ... What can I use instead of smartDoctor for controlling the fan? As it seems without smartdoctor the fan hardly runs at all ....

Open your case and physically check to see what is happening. Best way.

Uninstall Smartdoctor. Fit an after market cooler on the GPU if it is the noise that makes you use a fan controlling program.

it's not the noise, it's the fact that when I don't have the smartdoctor installed the fan is only going at about 20% even when gaming:confused:
